BUSSELTON OPEN TOURNAMENT
The Busselton Open Tournament is played on the March long weekend each year
The tournament is open to all VACCINATED tennis players. There are multiple events in singles, doubles and mixed. As well as a mixture of Championship, Senior and B Grade events. The Championship events are the premier events in our Tournament, played in knockout format on our quality grass courts. The Senior events are also played on our grass courts.
The Men's and Ladies' senior doubles are played in a round robin format. These two events have become extremely popular over the years and are likely to be sold out well before the official closing date so get your entries in quick.
The Mixed senior event is a knockout event. This is also a popular event and typically is played in 2-3 divisions. The number of divisions and the various division cut-offs will be determined once the final numbers are known.
For the second year we will be holding “B grade” events held on our hard courts in a round robin format. Be aware that depending on numbers there may be a need to play matches under lights. Depending on the number of entrants, most of these events will have multiple divisions.
Players are restricted to entry to a maximum of 3 events. We are strongly recommending that you restrict your entry to 2 events if you are playing 2 round robin events.
The scheduling will be determined closer to the date of the tournament. In most events there will be matches scheduled for each of the three days over the weekend.
The organizing committee is not providing a partner required service for this year’s tournament. We are leaving it up to you to find yourself partners for the various events you wish to enter. To help facilitate this we have set up a “virtual noticeboard”. If you CLICK onto Facebook and visit the Busselton Tennis Club site, there is a post with a call to list your name and what partners you are seeking. I would encourage you to put your name, your playing standard, and what events you seeking partners for in the comments section. You should also be able to look through the previous comments to help you connect with players that may be available. Please note the tournament organizers and not actively going to pair players up so it is up to you to be proactive.
